This is one of the simple card trick performed by David Blaine.
Watch the performance first:
The sequence:
First, fan out the deck to let audiance see the deck is mixed up and nothing tricky hidden within the cards.
second, he shows the front edge of the cards to the audiance and "sweep" through the cards quickly while asking you to quickly pick a card and memorize it.
third, repeat second step again as it was done too fast. You have second chance to grab a card and memorize.
Finally, he takes up one random card, pluck the card and the card turned into the one that you memorized perviously.
Below is an explanation how to change the card quickly.
Now, you may have one question. How can he make sure that you must choose spade of queen?
The trick is on the third step. Before he "sweep" the deck of card, he makes a break with his little finger at that card which you can't see it. When the spade of queen reached while he is sweeping, he stop there awhile before continuing "sweeping" the deck. Do you notice that u actually cannot see any other cards clearly while he is sweeping but only on the spade of queen? That is the reason!
Note: Break is a trick of card magic, which you silently use your little finger to bookmark the card that you want without being observed by the audiance.
Cheers!
